About

Who is Exhort Communication?
‘Exhort Communication’ is me, Linda Grigg. Writing is my passion but  my ‘day job’ since 1999 has been in the New Zealand not-for-profit sector. Roles have included communication, customer service, administration, and fundraising support.

What are you working on currently?
Since March 2013 I have been working for Iosis as their fundraising & communications coordinator.

I undertake my own writing projects as time permits. Although I have a special interest in Christian NFPs/small businesses, my desire is to use my writing skills and experience to help positive people in general, to tell their stories.  Whether that story is about your efforts to transform community, or build a small business, or actively pursue personal goals, doesn’t matter. It is my hope that telling it will encourage, inspire and persuade us all to reach our full potential and achieve our own dreams.

Where are you based?
I am based in South Auckland but through the marvels of technnology am able to connect with you no matter where you are in New Zealand.

What’s your experience?
Since 1999 I have been working in the NFP sector – in customer service, communication, administration and fundraising roles. In terms of writing, this has covered everything from form letters, appeal letters, newsletters, marketing material, annual reports, press releases, online content, and magazine/newspaper articles.

What’s your style?
I have a lively but concise style of writing, well-suited to newsletters, blogging, articles, etc.  I have a good judgement of what is ‘news’, and my stories are well-structured.

When I’m not writing, I am…
Reading, watching movies, studying, spending time with family and friends – enjoying life!

Last words
This blog has been created to celebrate those with positive stories to tell. My guiding principle for the blog is based on Philippians 4:8 in the Bible, with the word ‘write’ substituted for the original ‘think’:

Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think WRITE about these things.
